HART by She Said Theatre
“Throughout Australia’s history, an unknown number of Indigenous children have been forcibly removed from their families. Parents driven mad, grandparents heartbroken, siblings torn apart, language lost, and culture stripped away.”
She Said Theatre’s HART is a deeply moving verbatim theatre piece retelling true stories of the Stolen Generations through the words of four Indigenous men from Western Australia.
Before the HART show in Narrogin, Nola Williams and Joan Woods (pictured above with Ian Michael) spoke of their own experiences as members of the stolen generation. Their personal accounts were moving and set the scene for the performance.
The audience described the performance as very touching and moving; a wonderful production and a very powerful performance and subject. For some, it was their first time seeing anything like this and for others it was captivating to learn about their own history through the powerful message of the show. Many audience members hoped to see the cast back for another show and some didn’t want the show to end!
